I started sourcing in early 2026. Running the back office meant a spreadsheet for deals and investors, plus a separate paid tool for everything else: one for e-signatures, one for emails, one for bookings, one for storing brochures. The alternative was an all-in-one CRM at £97 or more a month.
Those prices make sense for a big agency. But as a sourcer you can go a month or more without a deal, especially at the start, and a subscription quietly eats into your cashflow every month regardless.

Do I need to be technical?
No. Choose Done-for-you and we install SourceDesk and import your investors for you. You only do a few simple sign ups, with a guide that shows every click. Choose Pro and we do those with you on a call. Self-install is there if you enjoy doing it all yourself, with a guide that walks you through every click.
What do I need to run it?
Any reasonably recent Windows PC or Mac to try it, or a small cloud server (around £5-10 a month, for example Hetzner or DigitalOcean) to use it properly. SourceDesk works in any modern browser, including on your phone.
Do I need a server, or can it run on my computer?
Short answer: yes, SourceDesk can run entirely on your own computer, free, with all your data kept on that machine. But some features need to be reachable from the internet, so they only work on a small server. Try it on your computer; to use it with investors and ads, put it on a server. Done-for-you sets the server up for you.

Other costs to know about: the web address is free if you already have a website (it becomes crm.yourwebsite.co.uk); if not, a domain costs about £10–15 a year. The hosting company's automatic backups are optional and add about 20% to the server cost, and SourceDesk can also download a full backup from Settings at any time. SourceDesk updates are included for life.
Is it worth it? One sourcing fee protected by an NDA signed before the address goes out pays for many years of server.
Who sets it up? Done-for-you and Pro include setting up the server for you, in your own name, at your own web address, with HTTPS. With Self-install, the guide walks you through it step by step.
Is it a monthly subscription?
No. You pay once and keep it, and every future update is included. The only possible running costs are your own: a server if you choose one, and Anthropic usage if you switch on the optional AI features (typically pennies per business card or brochure).
Where is my data, and who can see it?
On your own computer or server. Nothing passes through us, and we have no access to your contacts, deals or documents. You can download a full backup in one click from Settings at any time.
Can my team use it?
Yes, with unlimited users. Each person gets their own login as admin, editor or view-only. To use it away from the office, run it on a server; Done-for-you includes that setup.
Can I import a deal from a link?
Yes. Paste a link to a PDF brochure, a Google Drive or Dropbox share link, or an agent's listing page, and SourceDesk reads it and fills in the deal for you to check. Rightmove, Zoopla and OnTheMarket do not allow their pages to be read automatically, so for those, save the link on the deal or upload the agent's brochure.
Can I bring in my existing spreadsheet?
Yes. SourceDesk imports your investors, deals, sourcers, sellers and partners straight from an Excel or CSV spreadsheet, and reads investor criteria from documents. With Done-for-you, we do the import for you.
Are the NDA and agreement templates legally checked?
They're the templates a working sourcing business uses, supplied as starting points and fully editable. They are not legal advice: have your own solicitor review them, including the fee wording, before you use them.
Do I need AI or an API key?
No. Brochure reading, card scanning, matching and the Ask page all work without one. Adding your own Anthropic (Claude) key is optional: it reads unusual brochure layouts and difficult card photos even better, and switches on voice dictation and reading investor requirements documents. You pay Anthropic directly, typically pennies per use.
Does it send emails?
Yes, through your own email account (Gmail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and most others), so messages come from you. It works without email too: every signing and criteria link can be copied into WhatsApp or your own email instead. For those links to open for the people you send them to, SourceDesk needs to be on a server (see above).
